HOWARD COUNTY FOOD DRIVE, 2004

The Howard County Muslim Foundation (HCMF) is a non-profit group, which organizes community projects and programs for residents in Howard County.  For the past 2 years, about 200 members of the organization including children and parents reached 5,000 homes in their neighborhoods door-to-door to collect 2500 pounds of food and donated them to food banks in Howard County.  On September 12, 2004, we reached out to 10,000 Howard County residents for their support!  The volunteers then went back out to collect on Sunday September 19th in order to deliver to the charities.  Food supplies run low mid-year and the donation was greatly appreciated by the Howard County Food Bank and Elkridge Food Kitchen.  In the past, County Executive Jim Robey, Congressman Elijah Cummings and other elected officials joined the food drive volunteers for a picnic at Cedar Lane Park to celebrate the successful event.

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED MAKE THIS EVENT A GREAT SUCCESS!!

The food drive was recognized by Sen. Barbara Mikulski in the following letter.
